HiyoTalk is a website where adults practice English by chatting with other people by text or voice. This page explains what information we use, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible.

If you chat as a guest

If you sign in with Google

When you sign in, Google tells us a unique account ID. We use it only to recognize you next time. We do not store your email address, your real name or your Google profile picture.

We store the profile you create: your nickname, your avatar, your English level, your interests, and your preferred and blocked countries. The people you chat with can see your nickname, avatar, level, interests and country.

Reports and safety

When someone reports another user, we keep a record of the report (the reason, the time, the IP addresses and account or browser IDs involved) so we can stop abuse. People reported by 5 different people are banned for 24 hours. The site's moderators can also see reports, ratings and basic chat statistics (how many chats and how long), and can ban or remove accounts that break the rules.

Feedback

If you send feedback, we store your message with your nickname (if you're signed in) and your country.

Services we use

We do not sell your information and we do not show ads.
